Travel Packages for Baby Boomers

Anyone born between 1946 and 1964 has to classify themselves as a baby boomer.  Though they may bemoan their age from time to time, anyone of this generation should be glad to hear that they are among the most educated, affluent and well traveled generations the United States has ever seen.  Interestingly there are roughly 76 million boomers, which means they constitute a whopping 28% of the total population.

It also means they are in their fifties or older, and this translates to a few excellent facts.  The first fact being that they are either near to or have entered retirement.  The next being that their children are probably grown and independent. The third being that they are probably currently carrying the lowest amount of debt than at any point in their life time. This all means it is the perfect time for boomers to travel.

To make the idea of a journey even more appealing, many travel companies have researched the interests and likes of the boomers and created special travel packages specifically designed to appeal to them. Why should you sign up for an organized tour? These are not coach or bus tours that ask little of the guest, most are intellectually and physically stimulating and are intended to appeal to someone with cultural, worldly or even athletic interests.

This type of travel arrangement will generally eliminate the traditional worries of rental cars, driving, finding destinations, locating good restaurants and many of the other hassles that eliminate the “fun factor” of a trip. They also can save a great deal of money because they are, fundamentally, group arrangements which always come at a discount.

What are some examples? For boomers worried about the environment and their own carbon footprint there are environmentally friendly tours to such exotic locations as Ecuador and Antarctica. These are not enormous cruise ships dumping waste and consuming fuel that carry passengers to the Galapagos Islands and other areas, but are specially outfitted yachts that use bio fuels and seek to be as unobtrusive with native whales, birds and scenery as possible.

There are also tours for history buffs to locations like Egypt, the battlefields of the United States and even sites of the Ancient World. Some of these have land and water components, and while you might assume they come at a premium cost they can be quite reasonable.

There is almost any kind of tour imaginable, and they usually offer far more than a couple or individual could arrange for themselves.
